5 Easy Steps to a Do-It-Yourself Salon Perfect Pedicure

At home Pedicure

These days we are finding the need to cut back on the little luxuries of life. With the economic crisis in full swing, you may find that you are cutting back on those non-essential luxuries to make room in the budget. If this is the case, know that your weekly pedicure should not be sliced off your To-Do list, because with sandal season lining up with longer work hours to make ends meet, your weekly pedicure is a must-do. It’s okay to take care of yourself with some pampering, and now it is even more important to do so. But even if expensive weekly salon trips are no longer possible, you can still give yourself some me-time by repositioning your method so to speak. Just follow the following five steps that will take you easily from one to the other for a picture perfect pedicure that will rival any salon’s.

1. Prepare your peds. Here you need to prepare your feet for the pampering to come.

Soak your feet in a large bowl or foot bath with some scented oils and soothing bath gels. You want to soften your feet to perfection, so don’t be afraid to sit there and unwind as long as you like. Light a candle and pour a glass of wine for a relaxing, soothing foot soak that will unwind every money woe you might have.

2. Exfoliate will be your next step, and use a nail file meant for feet to brush off any calluses, corns, or bumpy spots. It is getting warmer so if you are going barefoot often and frequently, you may want to take this step once or twice a week.

3. Moisturize. After your feet are baby bottom’s smooth, lock in your soak and exfoliation with some peppermint scented moisturizer. You will find a lot of product for feet with minty scents, and the reason for this is that this scent improves circulation and it will bring tired achey feet back to life. Again, this is a lovely step, so enjoy enjoy enjoy and relish in your self-indulged foot rub for as long as you can.

4. Shape and Polish are the only other steps you need to do now, once your feet are properly worshipped you can decorate them with the pretty polish you want peeking out of your peep-toed pumps or gladiator sandals. Feet that are pretty and well taken care of tend to get noticed as often as those that aren’t, so choose a color that really stands out and shows off your pretty peds. Bright reds, fuschias, and eye popping gem-stone hues are all the rage this summer, so take advantage of them and use them to show off all that hard “work” you just perfected in your at home spa.

5. Lastly, while you are waiting for your toes to dry, continue the ritual on your nails.
